Bumblebee to tender for Guernsey-Jersey ferry
As interest mounts in the idea of a Jersey-Guernsey ferry, Bumblebee Marine can confirm that it will be expressing interest and submitting proposals for the operation of a larger, fast ferry to operate the route
Bumblebee bids farewell to Alderney
As we come to the end of our sixth successful season on the Alderney route, we have sadly reached the conclusion that there is no future for us with Alderney and we will be running our last ever scheduled services on 1 October.
For six years we have provided an excellent, reliable and safe service and have provided many extra trips to support Alderney Week and lots of trips to get people home in the fog. We have forged a great relationship with people of Alderney and have become part of the local scene.
We made detailed proposals for the operation of a large, fast ferry between the islands in response to a States specification way back in 2014. This would have brought 10,000 day trippers a year to the island without affecting the limited bedstock. Despite overwhelming support at a public meeting in Alderney. The States seem to have no clear direction on ferry services and have not sought to discuss options with us, even though we are the incumbent operator with experience of the route and conditions.
This mean there is no development path for our business with Alderney and we must look in other directions.
If you have any comments please contact us or talk to your States Member.
